IMDB Explanation After Several People Complaint

Dante's Inferno on IMDb

by - IMDb Help Desk (10 Jul 2007 09:50:07 AM)

Hello,

Thank you for your email regarding the project Dante's Inferno.

This title was suspended from IMDb after we called the agency who represents actor Vincent Spano, who was listed in the project's lead role; Mr. Spano's representatives confirmed that he was not associated with the project, and that they had never heard of the production. This, coupled with the fact that we couldn't find recent news about the project online, resulted in the suspension.

If you would like this film to be listed again, we will need clear evidence that it is in active production. You indicate that you have Letters of Intent from known performers; such letters may be faxed to us at 310-388-0997.

Thank you again for your submission.

Regards,
Kyle / IMDb Help Desk

Why boycott imdb?

The question "Why boycott imdb?" is simple to answer, imdb is not a trustworthy database.

IMDB.com is one of the largest on-line resource that provides free and subscription-based information on Movie and TV productions and people. As a fee-based provider, IMDB.com is held to a reasonable level of accuracy and performance.

Recently, IMDB.com has ignored the abuse of their system and guidelines to allow the unwarranted cancellation of legitimate film and TV listings.

The cancellation policies of the IMDB.com listing service has negatively affected a great many film and TV projects due to the inconsistent and unprotected management of the IMDB database.

Since October 2006 Dante's Inferno has been listed on IMDB.com as a film in pre-production. Since that time its ratings were among the highest for its category( insert more specific..) Without any attempt to contact the producer, Boris Acosta and with no warning, IMDB removed this listing from its database. It was, it seems, the efforts of one or several people who for personal reasons sought to damage the marketing efforts of this film.

This is only a one case that has been made public, however, there too many legitimate productions that have been rejected by this newcomer in the film industry called Imdb.
